Breastfeeding Project Cord

Breastfeeding Project: Christina and Ileana

December 28, 2014 in Colorado Breastfeeding

How old is your nursling?
2 months

What does breastfeeding mean to you?
Bonding, building attachment, and giving her a heathy start in terms of proving immunity and nutrition.

What has been your biggest breastfeeding challenge?
I have a strong letdown, so we've had some issues with gagging and choking that are starting to get better as she gets older. She was also on oxygen for 3 weeks, so that caused some issues too.

What do you love most about breastfeeding?
Getting to know my baby, looking into her eyes and feeling close to her. Also, when I go back to work, I know our breast feeding relationship will help me reconnect with her when I come home.

Who (or what) has offered you support in your journey
My doula, and I went to a breast feeding support group through La Leche that really helped with some concerns I had.

Any other advice for moms who want to breastfeed?
Get support early on if you are having struggles. And follow your instincts, mamas know what is best for their babies!
