When is your baby due?
Baby is due at the tusk end of March. I'm 11.5 weeks pregnant.
What do you love about being pregnant right now?
I think it's funny how with a bird pregnancy your belly "pops" almost immediately. I know it's all muscle memory and bloat, but it's fun to LOOK pregnant so soon. I also have been feeling movement for the last week and a half, which surprised me because it's so early, but it's wonderful!
What makes you feel best?
Naps! They are hard to get because I also have a three year old and one year old, but I do my best, with hubby's help.
What are some of your struggles?
I'm struggling with feeding myself well. Though I haven't been nauseated, I just don't feel like eating much, yet if I don't, I feel sick and weak and cranky.
Emotionally, I struggle with allowing myself t get attached to this babe, since this pregnancy follows a horrific and bloody miscarriage (of a pregnancy i wasn't aware of until it was ending) in December. I have trouble trusting this baby will actually stick around.
What kind of birth do you envision for you and your baby? How are you preparing for it?
I envision another home birth with our midwife and her team. I think our other kids will be home/around. This time I may invite a couple friends interested in natural childbirth to be present also, now that I don't have the first-timer shyness. :) we aren't doing much to prepare yet. With this being my third, and because I see so many births of all sorts all the time as a birth photographer, I feel much more relaxed, less anxious to obsessively read and study and plan. Birth is in most ways un-plan-able.
Best advice you've heard about pregnancy or delivery?
Set intention for the birth you most want, but hold it loosely. Be flexible. Surrender to the pain and work with it.
How did you know you were pregnant?
On the day we conceived, I was pretty sure that if we had sex that day we would be pregnant... Because I was charting temps and cervical mucus. Then within a few days I just had a strong knowing. I tested at 11 days post ovulation and had a faint positive, which got stronger in the following days.
